Rachel Hogben BSc BFP FCA
I graduated from Writtle Agricultural College in 1998 with a 2:1 Degree in Rural Resource Development. From there I took a Chartered Accountant training contract and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
When my daughter was born I had a change of career and opened a maternity and baby shop. This taught me such a lot about business, marketing, customer service and keeping up with technology! We went from just a bricks and mortar shop to online selling and making the most of selling platforms such as ebay and amazon. I had the shop for 10 years - before my children started school they came work with me - it was a crazy but enormous fun time.
In 2016 our needs as a family changed and I closed the shop and went back to accountancy. Being able to see a business from an all inclusive perspective, not just producing year end accounts has given me a very different outlook.
A solid system structure, using technology, being able to change and adapt not only to how we live today but how we want to live tomorrow is really important. Yes it sounds cheesy and cliché but it's true.
You can choose how you live and operate, what will your choice be?
